Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is the best thing you can do to give your baby the best start in life. Every day you breastfeed makes a difference to your baby’s health now and in the future.
The World Health Organisation and Department of Health recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Breast milk provides babies with all the nutrients they need for the first six months and helps protect them from infections and diseases.
NHS Swindon is working in partnership with health providers, Swindon Borough Council, voluntary organisations, breastfeeding charities and peer supporters to increase the number of mothers who breastfeed. We aim to raise the profile of breastfeeding and improve the support available.
